Navigating Family Court in Florida but Can’t Afford Attorney’s Fees? You Don’t Have to Hire a Lawyer — But You Do Need to Do It Right.
In Florida, you have the legal right to represent yourself in many family law matters — including responding to a divorce summons, seeking child custody, or even requesting protection in a domestic violence case. Affording an attorney may not be an option for you, so you may want to seek another alternative, such as representing yourself. However, just because you can go it alone, doesn’t mean it’s easy.
The family court system follows strict procedures. The paperwork must be completed with precision. Filing mistakes, missed deadlines, or incomplete forms can lead to delays — or worse, the dismissal of your case.
And while court staff can answer basic questions, they are legally prohibited from offering any real help or guidance.
That’s Where We Come In.
At For Justice Advocacy, we offer professional, affordable assistance for individuals handling their family law or domestic violence cases. We don’t give legal advice — but we can help you complete, organize, and file your paperwork correctly and efficiently, as well as provide trial preparation assistance (without legal advice). We also provide unmatched compassionate support and encouragement from someone who has been there and has years of personal experience within the family court system.
With over a decade of firsthand experience navigating the family court system as a pro se litigant, the founder of For Justice Advocacy understands the pain, confusion, fear, and frustration that can come with divorce, child custody battles, and domestic violence cases — especially when you’re doing it alone.
She successfully got full custody and relocation approval as a pro se litigant in Florida. Her journey began as a mother and ended in her becoming an overcomer — someone who was thrown into a legal system that felt cold, unfair, confusing, and overwhelming. She couldn’t afford an attorney and was not able to get representation from legal aid, so she was forced to figure it out on her own, in highly contested divorce, custody, and domestic violence injunction hearings.
She was forced to learn how to advocate for herself, studying family law and court procedures out of necessity. Later, getting a job at the courthouse as a court reporter solely to learn from within the court system so that she could help others who are at a disadvantage like herself. That knowledge, combined with her employment inside the actual court system, gives her a rare blend of personal insight, passion, and professional understanding of the court process.
Now, her life’s mission is to walk with others through the legal battles, not just as a support and encourager, but as a compassionate advocate who truly understands. Whether you are overwhelmed, worn down, fearful, or simply unsure where to begin, For Justice Advocacy is here to help take some of the burden and simplify the process.
